UPT’s vision for digital transformation in education, research, and stakeholder engagement

Established in 1920, Universitatea Politehnica Timisoara (UPT) has over a century of tradition in Romanian engineering education and research and is one of the major technical universities in Romania. It provides Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD study programmes in a large variety of engineering fields (counting 10 faculties and 28 research centres).

UPT’s mission is to generate and transfer knowledge towards society through advanced R&D&I, to ensure high-quality professional training services, to contribute to the local, regional and national development directions of society, and to promote and foster fundamental human values.

Aiming to reach the Top 500 World Universities ranking, UPT is in the process of integrating information technologies in education and implementing blended learning as its pedagogical approach. Through its Digital Transformation Institute, UPT targets transformation into a more entrepreneurial and innovative HEI.

As a partner in the Accelerate Future HEI project, UPT’s vision for digital transformation in education, research, and stakeholder engagement reflects its strategic commitment to create and maximise connections between digital technologies and its key internal and external stakeholders, with the ultimate purpose of advancing knowledge and driving positive change in the western development region of Romania.

The university is equipped with three main strategic advantages, which are significant tailwinds for its digital transformation process within Accelerate Future HEI: digital education and digital research strategies, digital architecture and ecosystem, and digital communities of practice in research and education in the university and regional, national and international stakeholders.
