As part of IST’s vision for entrepreneurial and innovative transformation, the new Técnico Doctoral School was launched on November 4th, at the opening of the 10th edition of PhD Open Days – the annual event for doctoral students. This new structure will reshape the training of Técnico’s PhD students in Engineering, Science, and Architecture, increasing internships in companies and training in transversal skills on topics such as artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and science communication. Its mission is to prepare students for advanced careers in academia, industry, and other sectors while maintaining high academic standards and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
The event hosted the “Técnico Innovation Summit,” a public exhibition highlighting key activities and scientific outcomes from the PRR Mobilizing Agendas involving Técnico researchers. During this exhibition, PhD students had the opportunity to participate in speed-dating interviews with various companies and gain insight into societal challenges, different working cultures, and potential career opportunities.
Prof. Dídia Covas from DECivil is part of this new structure. DECivil, as a demonstrator of the Accelerate Future HEI project, is committed to Técnico’s transformative journey towards becoming a more innovative and entrepreneurial higher education institution. This action aligns with Goal 1 of IST’s Institutional Transformation Acceleration Project (ITAP): Foster internal engagement and boundary spanning. Stay tuned for more news about this transformation journey: HEI = Higher Education Institutions = Hubs of Entrepreneurship and Innovation!”
